Artist in Residence- Paula Valenzuela

The Marin Merchant is a thoughtfully curated shop in the heart of Sausalito, California, where timeless design, global craftsmanship, and California ease come together. Founded by Arielle Madilian in 2023, the space features vintage heirlooms, handcrafted goods, original artwork, and carefully sourced objects that tell a story.

During the summer, artist Paula Valenzuela is featured as Artist in Residence at The Marin Merchant, with a selection of original mixed-media paintings on view and available for purchase. The collection reflects her exploration of memory, transformation, belonging, and the layered nature of experience, offering visitors an opportunity to experience her work within a beautifully designed setting that celebrates art, craftsmanship, and home.

Paula Valenzuela is a Chilean mixed media abstract artist with deep roots in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Trained as a clinical psychologist before dedicating herself fully to painting, Valenzuela brings a rigorous interior life to her work. Her layered abstractions explore memory, transformation, and the tension between what is visible and what remains hidden — treating the canvas as a site where unconscious experience can surface through gesture, texture, and material presence.
